What everyone looks up to when it comes to Kerala Ayurvedic therapy, is Panchakarma. The
Ayurvedic complete body rejuvenation and the most well-known treatment methodology.
Panchakarma therapy is a highly individualized treatment that consists of five (Pancha) karmas
(procedures):
● Emesis (Vamanam)
● Purgation (Virechanam)
● Enema (Basti)
● Nasal instillation (Nasyam) and
● Detoxification therapy of blood (Raktamoksham)
Panchakarma is the ultimate detoxification for the body that leads to:

What distinguishes Keraleeya Panchakarma?
Ayurveda is a holistic healing system that has been used to treat Kerala’s rural population for
centuries. The pre-procedures of elimination therapies, such as deepana, pachana, and rukhsana, are
considered the main procedures in Keraleeya panchakarma. The main goal of these procedures is to
increase the bioavailability of herbs used in healing explanations. In the Concept of Keraleeya
chikithsa krama, healing in external forms of unique treatment methods is generally emphasized
alongside internal medications.

Here are some of the Keraleeya Panchakarma practices that we cannot be overlooked.!
● Pizhichil (Sarvanga dhara) :
Pizhichil (literally “squeezing”) is a Kerala-based Ayurvedic therapy in which a special cloth is
dipped in a warm medicated oil mixture and squeezed over the patient’s diseased areas. Muscle
cramps, neurological disorders, arthritis, paralysis, rheumatic diseases, and blood pressure issues are
all treated effectively with it.
● Navara Kizhi (Pinda Swedha) :
A rejuvenating massage for everything you’ve let slide and sink into your body.
Shashtika Shali Pinda Sweda is another name for the unique treatment of Navara Kizhi in Sanskrit.
Shashtika means number 60, Shali is the category of rice, Pinda is a poultice, and Sweda is sweat
respectively giving away insight into treatment methodology. It’s a type of massage that makes you
sweat thereby strengthening your muscles while also revitalizing and re-energizing the body.
● Elakizhi (Snigdha patra, sweda) :
Patra Potala Sweda (Elakizhi) is a timeless Ayurvedic sudation therapy that uses a variety of
medicinal leaves (herbs). Perspiration is induced in the affected area, prompting the skin to detox. The
herbal kizhis are made with fresh leaves (ela) that have Vata pacifying properties (bundles).
● Podikizhi (Churna kizhi) :
Podikizhi is the popular Ayurvedic therapy that involves massaging the entire body (or the affected
area) with kizhis (cotton boluses) dipped in medicated oils. It works well for treating neuromuscular
diseases and restoring natural body balance.
● Narangakizhi (Jambera pinda sweda) :
One of the unique Ayurvedic therapeutic treatments is Naranga Kizhi. The bolus used in this
treatment is made up of herbal powders, lemon slices, herb satahva, rock salt, and garlic, which is
dipped into warm medicated oil and then applied to the body in such a way that the Bolus comes into
the sudden contact with each adjacent part of the body for a fraction of seconds, causing the body to
perspire.

Keraliya Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapies are aimed at not only eliminating pathogens but also at
removing endotoxin buildup, which is the cause of all diseases in one way or another, and restoring
lost health through the use of proper food and regimen.
However, for the best results in healing, we must follow the proper instructions. Practitioners are
healers and they are the keepers of vitality and experts in rejuvenation in Ayurveda, the science of
life.
